This course provides hands‑on training in construction site scanning technologies and digital workflows. Students learn how to select appropriate scanning methods, capture site data, and convert it into practical deliverables used in real construction projects.

Participants will develop skills in data processing, point cloud modelling, and digital deliverable production, including orthophotos, measurements, and mesh models within industry coordinate systems.

The course also explores how scanning outputs integrate with BIM and project management, supporting as‑built verification, progress monitoring, and earthwork volume analysis.

The program concludes with a capstone practical project, where students complete a full workflow from planning and data capture to processing and final presentation, while following WHS, privacy, and compliance requirements.

You will gain:

Determine the most suitable scanning technology for a given site and project requirement.
Conduct site scanning from setup to QC, including control/targets and station deployment.
Process scanning data into deliverables (registered point clouds/meshes, orthophotos, and measurements) in the required coordinate system.
Apply deliverables to BIM and project verification tasks (as-built, deviation, volumes/earthworks, and progress claims).
Follow WHS and relevant compliance requirements, including privacy, data security, and safe use of drone/laser equipment.
